The Queen’s Medical Center has completed its 100th organ transplant after taking over liver and kidney replacements following the closure of the Hawaii Medical Centers.
The Queen’s Transplant Center opened in March 2012 after HMC, the only organ transplant center in the Pacific, was shuttered following a lengthy bankruptcy.
Queen’s and Legacy of Life Hawaii are partnering to encourage Hawaii residents to register as organ and tissue donors as part of National Donate Life Month.
Currently, 432 Hawaii residents are on the waiting list for kidney and liver transplants.
