Man arrested for car theft when cops investigate drinking complaint

A complaint of drinking near a Kaneohe area school early Sunday morning led the arrest of an 18-year-old man for allegedly stealing a car and driving without a license, Honolulu Police said.

A 56-year-old woman called police with a drinking complaint around 1:50 a.m. Responding officers noticed a vehicle bring driven without headlights and conducted a traffic stop, police said.

Officers arrested the driver, an 18-year-old Waipahu man, at 2:05 a.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a vehicle and driving without a license, according to police records.
