Farmers, and anyone considering farming, can learn about various facets of the field at a free farmers resource workshop Friday.
Attendees will get information about pesticide resistance and calculations, food safety, insurance programs, loan programs and disaster assistance, clean-water permits, conservation programs, produce testing, and marketing and commodity programs.
The workshop will run 5 to 9 p.m. at the Hawaii Agriculture Research Center in Waipahu and is sponsored by the state Agriculture and Health departments, along with the University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
