Gonzaga junior Alice Kim, a 2011 graduate of University High, won her second straight golf tournament on Tuesday, claiming medalist honors at The Gold Rush Presented by Farmers Insurance in Yorba Linda, Calif.
Kim set a tournament record for 54 holes, finishing at 1-under-215 to win by two strokes over two golfers, including Gonzaga teammate Ciera Min, a 2013 Waiakea alumna.
Kim’s final-round 75 was good enough to hold onto the victory after opening the tournament with a 3-under 69 and a 71.
Kim’s final round included three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey. Her finishing score of 215 is the fourth-best in school history.
"Alice has figured out her driver, has played six great rounds of golf in a row and beat a lot of good players," Gonzaga coach Brad Rickel said in a press release.
"She is full of confidence right now."
Kim also won the Mountain View Collegiate on March 29 with Min finishing in a tie for 11th place.
Five of Kim’s last six rounds have ended at par or better.
Min shot a 74 on Tuesday, with three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
It was the final tournament before the West Coast Conference Championships, April 14-16 in Bremerton, Wash.
