Moped driver dies after collision with truck
A 24-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after her moped collided with a truck near Turtle Bay, according to police.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m., according to the Honolulu Police Department’s online traffic log.
Police said the woman, a visitor from Colorado, entered the opposite lane of traffic while attempting to turn onto Kamehameha Highway from Kuilima Drive and hit a delivery truck.
She was transported in critical condition to an area hospital, where she later died.
Kalihi man arrested in Aiea stabbing
Police arrested a 25-year-old Kalihi man after he allegedly stabbed another man during an argument early Sunday morning in Aiea.
The 19-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the 3:30 a.m. incident and was transported in critical condition to a local hospital, according to police.
The suspect was found about an hour later in Aiea and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Virginia man suspected in sex assault
Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Norfolk, Va., early Sunday morning after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in the Ala Moana area, according to police records.
The 28-year-old woman told police two men assaulted her, but only one has been identified and arrested, according to police records.
Police picked up the man, of a Virginia address, about an hour after the 3:30 a.m. incident, arrest records show.
He was arrested near 500 Ala Moana Blvd.
Kauai crash victim transferred to Queen’s
A man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Kekaha, Kauai, early Saturday morning.
According to police, the man was traveling east on Kekaha Road, just past Manu Road, when the sedan he was operating struck a chain-link fence.
The driver was initially transported to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital and later flown to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. The cause has not been determined.
Kayakers rescued off Maui after capsizing
Maui fire rescue personnel came to the aid of two women whose kayak capsized Sunday about 500 yards offshore in La Perouse Bay.
A watercraft brought the two women back to shore. Both were wearing personal flotation devices.
The women were part of a group of six people who were attempting to paddle three two-person kayaks to Makena. The other four people were able to safely return to shore.
The incident happened at about 12:30 p.m.
