Holy smokes! Kids deal grandfolks’ pot
The fact that it was predictable makes it no less troubling: A Colorado elementary school principal had to send a letter home reminding parents and others to secure their newly legal marijuana after fourth-graders were caught dealing the drug on campus; the stash belonged to their grandparents.
The letter noted that marijuana is potentially lethal to children, and should be kept away from them. The school district’s safety director was even more blunt, saying "This could not have happened had they (the grandparents) secured their marijuana. Nothing good’s going to come from having 10-year-olds find it, use it or take it to school."
File this one among Colorado’s cautionary tales.
Team spirit spreads across Pacific
Sure, the New York Yankees are tops with Hawaii fans now, but we expect the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals to surge as "local boys" Shane Victorino and Kolten Wong continue to add to the popularity of their respective baseball teams.
The New York Times used Facebook "likes" to map team allegiances by zip code, a method that found the Yankees dominating in 18 of 31 Oahu zones.
