Keri Togami was admittedly a little shaky stepping into the batter’s box with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

"I was super nervous," the Mililani sophomore said.

Togami’s jitters were soon replaced by elation when her shot down the third-base line stayed fair and Kylyn Sasaki scored from second to give the Trojans a 1-0 win over Campbell in the semifinals of the OIA Red softball tournament on Friday.

"Yesterday she hit one in the same spot and it was (foul) by a couple inches," Mililani coach Rose Antonio said. "She just took the outside pitch and it’s a game of inches. That was great for her."

Mililani’s win at Central Oahu Regional Park sent the Trojans, the top seed from the OIA Red West, to Saturday’s OIA Red championship game while ending Campbell’s three-year reign. Mililani will be seeking its first OIA title since 2010 in the final scheduled for 7 p.m. at CORP.

Togami’s single also kept Aubree Kim from having to return to the pitcher’s circle for the eighth inning and gave the sophomore a complete-game victory. 

Kim struck out 13, held the Sabers to four hits and overcame six walks in stranding 11 Campbell runners on base, including seven in scoring position. She posted her last two strikeouts with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh to preserve the scoreless tie going into the bottom of the inning.

"I just tried to take it one pitch at a time and taking deep breaths really helped," Kim said.

Campbell’s Elisa Favela finished with five strikeouts and matched zeroes with Kim through six innings. She got the first two outs of the seventh before walking Sasaki. Togami, Mililani’s ninth-place hitter, fell behind in the count before poking a single past third base and into left field.

"(Antonio) just said to relax and do what you do and don’t think about anything else," Togami said.

Waianae 12, Moanalua 11

Lauren Tauanu’u drove in four runs and the Seariders rallied from a six-run deficit to advance to face Mililani for the OIA Red championship.

Moanalua jumped ahead on Leisha Yamauchi’s three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and Na Menehune led 6-0 in the second after Makamae Kaleikini launched the first of her two homers.

Waianae charged back with four runs in the top of the fourth inning, highlighted by back-to-back home runs by Tauanu’u and Nue Sivia. Na Menehune extended their lead back to 9-4 when Kaleikini drilled her second home run in the bottom of the inning.

Waianae answered with five runs in the fifth to tie the game. Tauanu’u delivered a two-run double and the Seariders eventually closed to within a run when Alyssa Salud-Mendoza was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Kalei Cacho-Kekahuna then drew a walk to force in the tying run.

Waianae took the lead in the sixth when Tauanu’u walked, advanced on Sivia’s single and scored on a throwing error on Cranci Kamaka’s grounder. Another error allowed Sivia to score and pinch runner Willie-AnnPerez came in on Randie Santiago’s sacrifice bunt.

Moanalua appeared to score in the bottom of the sixth when Kaleikini came in from third on Cyanne Fernandez’s flyout to center. But Kaleikini was called out after the Seariders appealed at third to end the inning.

Na Menehune scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to close to within a run, but Kamaka fielded a grounder with two out to secure a complete-game win.

Despite an early five-run lead, the Cougars fell to the visiting Mules with Taezha-Ann Cordero in the circle. 

Catcher Alo Salausa led Leilehua’s offense with three hits. 

The Mules host Pearl City in Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. fifth-place game; Kaiser’s season is over.

Raisa Strom-Okimoto threw a no-hitter and had five hits as Na Alii routed the Bulldogs. 

Aiea advances to Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship game against Nanakuli at Central Oahu Regional Park, while Waialua hosts McKinley in the 3:30 p.m. third-place game; all four teams have advanced into next week’s Division II state championships.
