The Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii is looking to strengthen ties between business in Hawaii and those in China and Hong Kong with a four-day forum in Honolulu in early June.

The event, scheduled to run June 4-7, will be highlighted by an all-day conference June 6 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village featuring high-level officials including Yanjun Li, the director of China’s Ministry of Commerce; Daniel Fung, former solicitor general for Hong Kong; and Yuying Wang, chairman of the Tianjin Sister City Council for the Promotion of Enterprises.

"The Hong Kong-China Forum is about economic exchange between Hawaii, Hong Kong and China. Overseas speakers are directors leading economic growth at the national and provincial levels, and are all highly credible and valuable resources," said Barinna Poon, president of the Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii.

Poon said the event will provide participants with the latest market intelligence on how to do business in Hong Kong and China, and opportunities to establish new contacts and find business opportunities.

"We are excited about helping delegates meet and interact with one another," Poon said. "We hope that the active participation will result in partnerships and business leads."

The lead sponsors are the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco and the international business consulting firm Orangefield ICS.
