Police Chief Darryl D. Perry has filed papers to run as a candidate for the Kauai County Council in the 2014 election.

Perry has served as police chief since 2007. Perry retired as a major from the Honolulu Police Department after serving 22 years from 1980 to 2002. He spent 3 1/2 years with the Kauai Police Department from 1976 to 1980.

Perry has served as chief of security at First Hawaiian Bank and an investigator with the Attorney General’s Office before he was sworn in as police chief.
