Man whose body was found died naturally
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that a man whose decomposed body was found near the top of Wilhelmina Rise in February died of natural causes.
Last month the body was identified as being that of Leonard Moore, 48, but the medical examiner said the cause of his death was pending test results. On Friday the medical examiner said there were no suspicious circumstances, and while the cause of death was ruled undetermined, the manner of death was natural.
Authorities said a man flying a radio-controlled helicopter in his yard at Kawelolani Place smelled an odor Feb. 26. He found the body when he went to retrieve his aircraft.
Driver faces attempted-murder charge
Police on Friday charged a 30-year-old woman with attempted murder for allegedly striking a 73-year-old woman with her car in Waikiki on Wednesday.
According to police, Jill Anjuli Hansen followed the victim though the security gate of the Diamond Head Apartments parking lot and intentionally hit the woman with her car as the woman exited her vehicle. A witness broke a window on Hansen’s car in an attempt to stop her from hitting the woman again. Hansen allegedly left her vehicle behind and fled the scene. She was arrested at her Sea View Avenue apartment later that evening.
Paramedics treated the victim for a serious head wound.
Police said Hansen and the older woman do not know each other, and there was no apparent motive for the attack.
Hansen was charged Friday evening with second-degree attempted murder. Her bail was set at $1 million.
