Former University of Hawaii quarterback Bryan Moniz has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Moniz, who completed his UH career at the end of the 2011 season, has not played since July 2012, when he suffered a torn MCL and patella while playing for the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League.

“It was a long one,” Moniz said of his recovery. He was medically cleared to play earlier this year.

Moniz participated in the Stampeders’ tryout in Bradenton, Fla., last week.

He was offered the contract Thursday.

Details were not available, but the CFL minimum is $50,000 per season.

Moniz is a Leilehua High graduate who joined the Warriors as a walk-in January 2009 after spending a season at Fresno City College. His UH career ended when he suffered a broken ankle late in his senior season.
