Kapalua festival tickets on sale through Saturday
Tickets are on sale for the 33rd annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival, June 12-15 at the Kapalua Resort on Maui. The event features wine tastings, seminars, a cooking demo and food from such venues as Roy’s, Japengo, Star Noodle, Morimoto Maui, Alan Wong’s Amasia, New Zealand Master Chef, Migrant, Pulehu and more.

Learn basics of pairing drinks with various foods
CookSpace Hawaii at Ward Warehouse is launching a four-part series this week on basic pairings of wine, spirits and food, as well as a mango pastry demonstration. Register at cookspacehawaii.com/classes.

Habilitat’s annual luau will feature kalua pork
Kalua pig takes center stage on an eight-course menu at Habilitat’s annual benefit luau, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 at King Intermediate School, 46-155 Kamehameha Highway.

Upcoming festival shines bigger spotlight on wines
Some 30 wineries featured in 14 events will lend more emphasis to wines and spirits at this year’s Hawai‘i Food and Wine Festival, to run Aug. 29 to Sept. 7.
Wine and spirits participants include Arkenstone, Au Bon Climat Winery, Behrens Family Winery, Blankiet Estate, Chapter 24, Colgin, Grace Family Vineyards, Hourglass Vineyard, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Justin Vineyards & Landmark Vineyards, Moone Tsai Vineyards, Morlet Family Vineyards, My Essential Wines, Saint Glinglin, Sombra Mezcal, Astral Tequila, Neyers Vineyards, Opus One Winery, Palmaz Vineyards, Reinhold Haart, Rivers-Marie, TY KU Sake, Vine Cliff Winery, W.H. Smith Wines, Weingut Gunderloch and Weingut Rudolf Fürst.
Among the events will be a Sturia Caviar and Champagne Krug pairing, a tasting of the favorite wines of three master sommeliers, and a “corks and forks” dinner featuring 20 top vinters from Napa Valley alongside the cuisine of 20 celebrity chefs.
