The University of Hawaii is reassessing its 2015 football schedule with the possibility of playing a game in Asia, athletic director Ben Jay said.
"I might have an international possibility for us (in 2015), but it could mean we’d have to change a game," Jay said.
Jay declined to say where UH is looking to play or identify a prospective opponent or possible sponsors for the venture. "I don’t want to get too deep into this too early in the game," Jay said. "We’ve been talking about playing a game in Asia, let’s just leave it that way for now."
In 2015 UH is already contracted to play a nonconference game at Aloha Stadium against Colorado and road games at Ohio State and Wisconsin in addition to an eight-game Mountain West Conference schedule. Brigham Young could also be on the schedule.
"We have to keep looking at our opportunities to expand into Asia," Jay said. "That’s something I’ve talked about since I’ve been here."
UH has talked about playing a game in Asia since the 1980s.
