With necessary approvals now in hand, construction on Resorts World Las Vegas is set to get underway this summer. The $4 billion first phase will open with 3,000 hotel rooms, a 4,000-seat theater, 30 restaurants and bars, and an "elaborate garden attraction."

While there’s been no mention of the live panda exhibit or replica of the Great Wall of China that were originally detailed, plans now include a rooftop sky park and observation deck atop a 674-foot tower and a 50,000-square-foot, 58-foot-tall aquarium that will be home to a huge exhibit of exotic fish.

Up to 85 percent of the existing Echelon Place buildings will be incorporated into the design, and the first phase will take 24-36 months to complete, putting the date of completion for the entire megaresort, which could include up to three phases, beyond 2017.

Moulin Rouge: A mobile casino will operate from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the site of the former Moulin Rouge on the north side of town. A trailer will offer live gambling at 16 machines, a move necessary to preserve the site’s gambling license.

Sterling: A Las Vegas dining institution, the Sterling Brunch, has returned to Bally’s. Located in the same space as before (now BLT Steak), the gourmet brunch features caviar, lobster tails, fresh-shucked oysters, Alaskan king crab legs and fresh berries, complemented by unlimited Perrier Jouet, the only genuine French Champagne served at a brunch in town. The price tag remains unchanged at $90, and there’s a $5 discount for showing a Total Rewards card.
