Wahine volleyball season tickets on sale Monday
Season tickets for the upcoming Hawaii women’s volleyball season, coach Dave Shoji’s 40th year, go on sale Monday.
Tickets are available online at etickethawaii.com, at the Stan Sheriff Center box office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., or by phone (944-2697) during box office hours.
Among the Rainbow Wahine returnees are sophomore Nikki Taylor, a first-team All-Big West selection last year; senior middle Kalei Adolpho and junior hitter Tai Manu-Olevao. The 20-match home schedule includes the Aug. 29-31 Chevron Invitational with San Diego State, Arizona State and Ohio; the Sept. 4-6 Hawaiian Airlines Classic with Oregon, New Mexico and St. John’s; and the Sept. 11-14 Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Challenge with UCLA, Utah State and San Francisco.
Upper level prices are $75 for students high school and younger, $100 for seniors ages 65 and older, and $135 for adults. The lower level price is $175 plus a premium seat contribution to Ahahui Koa Anuenue of either $100 or $120, depending on seat location.

Tanabe, Radke headline Quarterback Club program
Former Olympic swimmer and award-winning author Richard "Sonny" Tanabe and Maurice Radke, president of the Friends of the Natatorium, are the featured speakers at Monday’s Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon at the Maple Garden restaurant.
Tanabe, who has been inducted into the Indiana and Hawaii swimming halls of fame and the Hawaii Freediving & Spearfishing Wall of Fame, is working on his third book, titled "Hawaii Olympic Swimming 1912-2014." Radke will discuss the plans for the Natatorium.
Lunch at the Isenberg Street restaurant begins at 11:30 and costs $15. The program follows at noon.
U.S. men’s volleyball team 6-0 so far
The U.S. men’s national volleyball team, with two starters from Hawaii, held on to defeat Serbia 3-2 in an FIVB World League match Saturday in Chicago.
Setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha, USC) and libero Erik Shoji (Punahou, Stanford) helped the U.S. rally for a 25-22, 25-12, 26-28, 23-25, 15-13 victory at the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion. The U.S. (6-0) held an 18-7 edge in blocks against the Serbs (4-2).
The U.S. concludes group play against Bulgaria (0-5) on Friday and Saturday at Hoffman Estates, Ill.
