Girl who came out of coma meets Bruno Mars
CLEVELAND >> An 11-year-old Cleveland-area girl who came out of a coma after listening to Bruno Mars songs throughout her recovery got to meet the singer that doctors say helped save her life.
Zumyah Thorpe had a private meeting with Mars before his concert in Cleveland this past weekend.
Doctors didn’t expect her to survive a brain injury from a car crash that killed her pregnant mother and two younger sisters last year.
Nurses at a Cleveland hospital played Mars’ music every night during her recovery.
Zumyah’s grandmother tells WKYC-TV in Cleveland that not long after coming out of the coma she started singing Mars’ hit song "Just The Way You Are."
On Saturday night, she joined Mars at the edge of the stage when he sang her special song.
