Robberies strike ABC, Longs Drugs stores
Police are investigating two robberies at stores in Waikiki and Manoa on Monday night.
In both instances a man used a handgun.
Police are not saying whether the suspect is the same person.
The first holdup occurred at 9:30 p.m. at the ABC Superette on Ala Moana Boulevard in Waikiki. The suspect demanded cash and fled.
Two hours later at 11:49 a man using a gun robbed the Longs Drugs in Manoa Marketplace. The robber fled on foot.
The incidents are the latest in a series of store robberies over the past four months.
Robberies at 7-Eleven stores recently include:
» March 28 — just after 1 a.m. a man entered a store near Farrington Highway and Leokane Street and demanded money from the cashier.
» March 27 — a man robbed the 7-Eleven at Nimitz Highway and Kalihi Street.
» May 10 — the 7-Eleven in Kaimuki at Waialae Avenue and Sierra Drive was robbed by a man brandishing a dangerous weapon.
» June 13 — a cashier ran out of the 7-Eleven store on Waialae Avenue after a man demanded money at gunpoint. The man left without any cash.
» June 18 — a man entered the store on Halemaumau Street in Niu Valley at about 8:40 p.m., pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money.
Suspect in Kailua burglary is arrested
A 55-year-old alleged thief apparently likes a store in Kailua.
Honolulu police said Tuesday that the man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly stole merchandise from the store.
Police said the man had allegedly stolen items from the same store in the past.
Officers also arrested the man based on an outstanding warrant and as a burglary suspect.
