Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will open its 10th Hawaii store at Fort Street Mall downtown Wednesday.
Company spokesman David Sayre on Thursday confirmed the opening date. The company previously had said the store would open in mid-July.
The retailing giant hired about 150 workers for the 80,000-square-foot store, which is replacing Macy’s after it closed in February 2013.
There will be a celebration Wednesday with a Hawaiian blessing and maile lei from 7:30 to 8 a.m. The doors will open for business immediately after the event.
Normal business hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The company’s newest store at 1032 Fort Street Mall is 2.2 miles away from a Walmart on Keeaumoku Street.
