Fire destroys Paradise Park house
An early morning fire destroyed a vacant three-story house in the Paradise Park community on Hawaii island, Hilo fire officials said.
In a news release, fire officials said the 30-by-40-foot, three-story structure was fully involved and collapsed when they arrived on the scene at 5:15 a.m. Sunday. It took firefighters 20 minutes to gain control of the fire, which was reported at 5 a.m.
No damage estimate was immediately available.
Authorities said the structure was located on a three-acre lot with a rock wall perimeter, locked gate and narrow entrance and was difficult to access. A lock was cut at gate to gain entry, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
