A witness told police that he saw his nephew stab a 28-year-old man with a knife during a fight on Sunday night near the Pearl Ridge Community Park, according to court documents.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Benedicto Caesar, 29, on Thursday with second-degree attempted murder. He is being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post $50,000 bail awaiting a Circuit Court arraignment.

According to a police affidavit, R.S. Saimon said Ceasar was fighting with Steven Thomas at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday when the suspect stabbed the 28-year-old man with his right hand.

Ceasar then jumped into a car driven by his brother and fled.

An hour later, a police officer located the car at the suspect’s Waipahu home on Leowahine Street with two male occupants.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. However, only Ceasar was charged and his brother was released.
