Gilbert Waiau of Puna was arrested by police on an attempted murder indictment.

Hawaii County police arrested a 32-year-old Puna man on Monday, who was indicted on charges of attempted murder and other offenses.

Gilbert Waiau of Pahoa was arrested on Monday morning on a bench warrant after a grand jury indicted him with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree attempted assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree criminal property damage.

Police said the charges stem from an April 30, 2013, domestic dispute in which Waiau allegedly followed a 23-year-old woman, then tried to run her off the road.

She exited her car, and he allegedly attempted to ram her with his car.
