Mason captures Hilo Invitational
Nick Mason shot a final-round 7-under 65 for a two-day total of 126 to capture the Hilo Invitational golf tournament on Sunday.
Mason’s 16 under par is a tournament record. He finished six shots ahead of runner-up Max Bonk.
In the amateur division, Corey Kozuma (140) held off Isaac Jaffurs (141) to win by a single stroke.
Red Sox bring up UH alumnus Wright
The Boston Red Sox announced Sunday that they have promoted former University of Hawaii standout Steven Wright.
The knuckleballer was a starter at Triple-A Pawtucket, but he is expected to pitch out of the bullpen.
Wright opened the season on the disabled list and is getting his first stint in the big leagues this season. He was 5-2 with a 2.80 ERA in 11 starts at Pawtucket.
Last season, Wright went 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA in four games with the Red Sox.
