Laumaka inmate arrested for escape after turning himself in

An inmate who walked away from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center Saturday, turned himself in to the Oahu Community Correctional Center Tuesday morning.

Christopher Robles, 40, could have up to five years added to his prison term If he’s convicted for escape.

Robles failed to return to the Laumaka facility after work at 4 p.m. Saturday.  

Honolulu police arrested him after he turned himself in at about 7 a.m. for escape. He was to be returned to OCCC, after he is processed at the main police station.

Robles was serving time for first degree burglary.

Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center for community custody inmates.  It is located a block away from OCCC.  Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
