Car used in hit-and-run is found
The stolen car used to strike and injure a police officer was found abandoned Tuesday night in Pearl City.
Police are searching for the driver and passenger in the attempted-murder case.
Police said at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday a uniformed lieutenant approached a parked stolen car in front of the 7-Eleven at 897 Kamehameha Highway. The driver reversed the car and the open door struck the officer, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
The officer was seriously injured, according to police.
The two men fled eastbound in the car on Kamehameha Highway.
One man is described as in his 30s, 5 feet 8 to 6 feet tall, weighing 160 to 170 pounds, with short, dark hair and a black T-shirt, blue denim shorts, a baseball cap and slippers. The other is described as in his 30s, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches, 180 to 200 pounds, with long, wavy hair, a dark T-shirt, shorts, slippers and sunglasses.
