ASHBURN, Va. >> A possible change of plans for Robert Griffin III: He might play in the final preseason game after all.

Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Monday he is thinking about using his starters for a series or two Thursday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gruden says the purpose would be to keep RG3 and the offense from ending the preseason “on a sour note” following a poor performance Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The coach says there is only a 10 percent chance that Griffin will play, but the coach spoke in other ways about the quarterback’s struggles. Gruden says the offense’s identity “needs to be found” and that its strength right now is the running game.
