View bags, artwork at Ward
Textile artist Lynda Sakraida of Hadji Baba Bags will be showing her latest collection of handmade bags at The Gallery at Ward Centre Saturday through Sept. 25, with an opening reception taking place 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Her show is titled "Bags with Histories" because each bag is made from vintage or fabric recycled from old clothing, saris, Thai hilltribe textiles, kimono, Chinese silk qipao and other sources from her world travels.
Artist Doug Young will also be showing his new work, "Keawaiki," a series of paintings inspired by the lava-tube-fed brackish ponds of the north Kona coast.
The Gallery at Ward Centre is at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd. Call 597-8034.
