Exhibition and trunk show feature Japanese textile artist
Japan textile artist Akihiko Izukura will present a show of his natural fiber art forms, "Life in Colors of the World," at the Kapiolani Community College library and an outdoor installation through Sept. 25.
Admission is free.
Izukura will also hold a trunk show of his wearable art silk and cotton garments from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 30 through Oct. 1 at the Ala Moana Hotel second-floor Plumeria banquet room. Cash or check only.
Born into a family of imperial obi and silk weavers in Nishijin, Kyoto, the natural fiber artist is known for his large-scale textile constructions and garments that employ netting, braiding, weaving and entwining techniques. Call 347-266-1628.
CUSP event highlights season’s best fashions
Neiman Marcus is hosting a CUSP event highlighting the best of the fall season with informal modeling of contemporary apparel from noon to 2 p.m. daily through Sunday.
There will be DJ performances, light refreshments and Tom Ford makeovers from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. You can sit for photo booth pics with all your besties from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Those who make a $350 purchase of CUSP items will receive a set of three bracelets. Shoppers who spend $500 or more will receive $50 off.
