A 22-year-old man was charged Sunday after he drove into crowd of people and injured a man near the Queen Kaahumanu Center.

Police said Rustyn Pajimola-Aiu of Kahului was in his 2014 Acura sedan in the parking lot of the mall when he attempted to exit via Onehee Avneue Road and Wakea Avenue.  At the time, there was a large crowd for the start of the Maui Marathon.

Pajimola-Aiu continued to drive through the crowd and stuck a 53-year-old man.

The man was dragged 30 feet but sustained minor injuries.  He was treated and released at the scene, police said.  He was not a Maui Marathon participant.

Pajimola-Aiu was arrested and charged for drunk driving and for an outstanding bench warrant.

His bail is set at $1,200.
