Lily Bender of Kahaluu stopped for a snapshot in front of Halau Hula ‘o Hiwalani, a Hawaiian dance studio in the city of Kikuchi, Kumamoto prefecture, on the island of Kyushu, Japan. The studio was one of three hula halau that Bender and her mother, Valerie Hashimoto, passed while walking to their hotel after a visit to Kumamoto Castle.
