San Diego Chargers inside linebacker Manti Te’o suffered a foot fracture in Sunday’s game and will miss extensive time due to the latest foot injury, according to the Union-Tribune’s website utsandiego.com
According to the report, the injury is not severe enough where the team would put him on season-ending injury reserve, but said he would miss multiple weeks.
The injury occurred during the teams’ 22-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills, a game in which Te’o was credited with 10 tackles, tied for the most in his career.
Te’o, a former Punahou and Notre Dame star, has a team-high 19 tackles in three games.
It is his third football ailment in two seasons.
The 2013 second-round pick injured his right foot during the exhibition opener of his rookie year. It cost him the first three regular-season games and required offseason surgery after he played the year out with a stress fracture. Sunday’s fracture is to the same foot but not considered a re-injury.
Te’o sprained his left foot in an exhibition game against Seattle on Aug. 15. He rested and returned to practice Sept. 1. He started one week later in the season opener.
