Three more incidents of schoolchildren saying they were approached or followed near elementary or middle school campuses in Ewa Beach, Waipio and Waipahu were reported this week, raising the total to six since Sept. 18.
The Department of Education said the latest incident was reported Friday morning at Waipahu Intermediate School, where three students walking to school on Hula Street noticed a man driving a white van was following them. The students continued to walk to school and reported the incident.
Thursday afternoon at Kaneolani Elementary School in Waipio, two students said they were approached by a woman in a black truck parked off campus after school, according to the DOE.
That same morning at Ewa Makai Middle School in Ewa Beach, a student walking near Geiger Road and Kapolei Parkway was approached by a white van, the DOE said. The student ran away, and the van drove off.
All incidents took place on Leeward Oahu, but police haven’t said whether they are connected. At least three of the six incidents involve a white van: at Waipahu Intermediate on Friday, Ewa Makai Middle School on Thursday and Keoneula Elementary School on Sept. 18.
Earlier this week, police had received three reports of students either being harassed or followed in Ewa Beach and Waipahu.
A police CrimeStoppers bulletin released Thursday said a man driving a white panel van approached a girl and her younger brother at about 2:15 p.m. Sept. 18, while they were walking home from Keoneula Elementary on Keanui Drive.
A passenger in the van told the children to get in the van, but it never stopped and continued toward Fort Weaver Road, police said.

The man is described as in his 40s, with a mustache, wearing a long-sleeved neon-green shirt. He faces possible harassment charges.
The students ran away from the van and the vehicle drove off in the opposite direction.
The following day, Sept. 19, a Waipahu Elementary School student was walking home when a man parked on Waikele Street tried to entice the student into a parked car. The student ignored the man and reported the incident.
At 2:15 p.m. Monday, a man, now being sought by police for a terroristic threatening investigation, approached a girl in a subdivision across from Holomua Elementary School in Ewa Beach.
Police said the girl was walking home on Holopapa Street at Leleoi Street when a man called out her name, which was written on her backpack. He asked her to come with him to a nearby grassy area, but the girl refused. The man then yelled and threatened to kill the girl if she didn’t come with him, police said.
The girl fled and reported the incident, police said.
He is described as being in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, with a shaved head except for a bright red mohawk, gray tank top, blue shorts and white Jordan slippers. He has a green tattoo across his forehead, and a tribal tattoo on his left arm.
