The Sunrise Ministry Foundation is accepting registration for its "Journeys to Wellness III" seminar for healing of the mind, body and spirit from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Community Church of Honolulu, 2345 Nuuanu Ave.
The event, under the direction of the Rev. Wally Fukunaga, will feature a panel discussion titled "The Role of Spirituality in Healing and Wellness." Panelists include Dr. Jeffrey Akaka, medical director of the Diamond Head Community Mental Health Center in Honolulu; Dr. Kalani Brady of Lau Ola Clinic; Dr. John Houk of the Queen’s Medical Center; and Dr. Naomi Morita of St. Francis Hospice. Several workshops ranging from tai chi to meditation will be held later in the day.

Workshops starting at 11:15 a.m. and again at 1:15 p.m. include "Dances of Universal Movement," taught by Valerie Payton; "Essence of Ho‘oponopono," Puanani Burgess; "Qigong and Taijiquan," Corey Wong; "Intercessory Prayer," the Rev. Ron Williams; "Loving Kindness and Compassion," Gregory Pai; "Mindfulness Meditation," Ernestine Enomoto; and "Yoga," Ramdas Lamb.
Sunrise Ministry will also present its 2014 Puaka‘ana o Ka La Awards to Clarence Liu of Hospice Hawai‘i; Rose Nakamura of Project Dana; and Mark Kawika Patterson, a Hawaiian pu‘uhonua (sanctuary) practitioner and administrator of the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility.
