Firefighters respond to distressed divers near Koko Head

Seven fire companies and the department’s yellow helicopter were summoned Tuesday morning to help three divers who were reported in distress in the waters off off Kalanianole highway near the Koko Head rifle range.

The fire department got the distress call at 9:11 a.m. Initial reports said the divers were 100 yards off shore.

Ocean Safety rescued the divers and brought them to shore around 9:30 a.m.  They did not require any further assistance, Ocean Safety officials said.
