Oregon State running back Storm Woods (24) is wrapped up by Hawaii linebacker Julian Gener (28) during first-half action of a college football game between the Hawaii Warriors and the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon.

The University of Hawaii football team will be without its second-leading tackler for at least a month.

Inside linebacker Julian Gener underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a fractured fibula. He suffered the injury in Saturday’s 28-14 road loss to Rice.

Gener missed the final nine games of the 2013 season after suffering an elbow injury. He underwent Tommy John surgery.

This season, Gener, a fourth-year junior, has 33 tackles, including 3.5 backfield stops. He also has been credited with three quarterback hurries.

Hawaii hosts Wyoming on Saturday.
