Stranded hiker declines Fire Department assistance
A stranded hiker who spent the night on an Olomana peak, planned to walk out on his own Thursday morning.
The hiker called his girlfriend just before 7 p.m. Thursday night saying he didn’t need medical assistance, but darkness prevented him from walking down the mountain.
The girlfriend called the Fire Department, which contacted the hiker by cell phone at 7:03 p.m. and confirmed that there was no emergency.
The hiker planned to walk out Thursday morning and did not request any assistance, authorities said.
