Ana fears cancel Bayfest
Bayfest, the weekend-long family festival presented at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, has been canceled because of Tropical Storm Ana.
“The safety of military and civilian personnel is the first priority of Marine Corps Base Hawaii,” Marine Corps Community Services spokeswoman Debbie Bookatz said Tuesday in a news release. “As the state of Hawaii readies for its second large-scale storm this hurricane season, MCB Hawaii must prepare for emergency operations, as needed, on base and throughout the state.”
The festival was scheduled to take place Friday through Sunday at Kaneohe Bay, with fireworks and concert performances by musical acts Uncle Kracker and Smash Mouth on Friday, Capital Cities on Saturday, and Rodney Atkins on Sunday.
Tropical Storm Ana is expected to be a Category 1 hurricane as it approaches the Hawaiian islands from the southeast this weekend.
Concert tickets, $30 for each night, can be refunded via Marine Corp Base Hawaii’s Information, Tickets and Tours website, mccshawaii.com/itt, or by calling 254-7653.
There are no plans to recschedule the event at this time. Updates will be posted at www.BayFestHawaii.com.
