Waimea man dies in all-terrain vehicle crash

HILO >> Hawaii County police have released the name of a man killed in a weekend crash of an all-terrain vehicle.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports 48-year-old Willard Rapoza Jr. of Waimea man died.

Police say Rapoza left his home between 10 a.m. and noon Sunday and did not return.

Relatives at 1:25 p.m. found him trapped beneath the ATV on a trail on private property off Fire Road 15.

He was unresponsive when found. He was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Kona Community Hospital.
