San Francisco State stuns Hawaii-Hilo

While Hawaii Hilo goalkeeper Tyler Hoffman racked up a match-high seven saves, the one ball that made it past him was the difference as San Francisco State stopped the Vulcans 1-0 in overtime Wednesday in San Francisco, Calif.

UH-Hilo (5-7-1) managed just two shots on goal and was outshot by the Gators 21-7 in the nonconference tilt.

San Francisco State (7-6-2) forward Sam Merritt notched the game-winning shot just two minutes into the extra period on an assist from midfielder James Aguirre.

The Vulcans (5-3-5) survived despite being outshot 21-9 and received a match-high five saves from keeper Kayla Clarke in 110 minutes. The Gators (7-6-2) could not capitalize despite dominating the Vulcans 7-1 in corner kicks.
