Manila designers Cora Manimbo and Oskar Atendido will be on two islands for a series of events from Friday through Nov. 15, highlighted by the "Filipiniana Americana Fashion & Art Show" taking place Nov. 8 at the New Life Church.
The show will feature Manimbo’s array of traditional clothing using indigenous Philippine fabric, noted for its intricate embroidery and beadwork, with a dash of "American" flair.
Atendido will show his fine handcrafted filigree jewelry made of silver, copper and gold.
The art exhibition will feature symbolist drawings (graphite, charcoal, colored pencil), prints and sculptures (clay and ceramics) by local artists Leni Knight and Jasmine Knight.
The event is a fundraiser for Local Family Caregivers, to assist families in need for financial support for respite care and other assisted- living services.
