A rash of stalls and collisions appear to have combined to turn the usual Friday evening rush hour into a perfect snarl.

Motorists are reporting serious gridlock from East Honolulu to Ewa Beach and Mililani, and particularly in high-density areas like Kapiolani, Beretania and Nimitz.

Over a two-hour period ending at 6:20 p.m., the Honolulu Police Department traffic log reported 32 motor vehicle collisions and nine stalled vehicles on Oahu roads and freeways.

Traffic in Kunia was further hampered by the closure of Kunia Road between Kunia Drive and Anonui Street due to a leaning pole. The road was closed around 6:28 p.m. and has yet to be cleared.
