Democratic state Rep. Mark Takai has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood in his bid for U.S. Congress.

The group says it endorsed Takai because of his support for women’s health.

Takai says he supported a bill in 2013 that required hospitals to provide victims of sexual assault with emergency contraception.

Last week, Republican Charles Djou was endorsed by The Hawaii Association of Realtors.

Djou says owning a home is fundamental to the American dream and he will work hard to make Hawaii more affordable.

Takai and Djou are in a tight race for the 1st Congressional District seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, who ran unsuccessfully for the Senate.

The latest Hawaii News Now/Honolulu Star-Advertiser poll showed Djou and Takai tied at 47 percent.
