A 32-year-old woman, who was arrested for shoplifting at an Ala Moana Center store Tuesday, was discovered by police to have escaped from the state mental hospital at Kaneohe.
Ala Moana Center security guards apprehended Melanie Serior just after 8 p.m. and turned her over to police which discovered that she had escaped from the Hawaii State Hospital at Kaneohe.
The police arrest record did not say how long Serior has been missing from the state hospital.
She was arrested on second-degree escape charge.
