Traffic backed up in the ewa direction beyond the School Street offramp Saturday evening as work on the H-1 freeway rehabilitation project closed the right lane of the freeway through Kalihi.

Starting Wednesday night, state transportation officials plan to make full and partial lane closures in both directions of the H-1 freeway in Kalihi from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The closures for pavement resurfacing will continue through Nov. 26.
Full closures of eastbound traffic will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Wednesday through Friday and Sunday through Nov. 19.
The eastbound traffic will be shut down from the Moanalua Freeway’s Fort Shafter/King Street offramp to the Kalihi Street overpass.
Moanalua Freeway traffic will be detoured to the King Street exit, and H-1 airport viaduct traffic will be detoured to the Middle Street/Dillingham Boulevard offramp, also known as Exit 18-B.
Eastbound drivers can reconnect with the freeway at the Kalihi Street onramp near Farrington High School.
Westbound drivers will experience full and partial closures from the Kalihi overpass to the Middle Street overpass from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Nov. 19 through 21 and from Nov. 23 to 26.
Westbound drivers will be rerouted to the Likelike Highway offramp, also known as Exit 20-A.
Drivers can re-enter the westbound H-1 freeway at the Middle Street onramp.
Drivers headed to the airport are advised to turn left from Likelike Highway onto North School Street, then continue to Middle Street, pass over the freeway and go up to the airport viaduct onramp at Kamehameha Highway.
