» The Play: QB Joe Gray’s pass into the end zone is intercepted by S Daniel Lewis and returned to midfield. But an illegal block penalty on LB Lance Williams puts the ball at the Hawaii 10.

» Impact: Lewis’ interception ended a drive that started at the San Jose State 25 and one of five fruitless trips to the Hawaii red zone. Lewis, a freshman, started in place of injured senior Taz Stevenson.

» The Play: RB Joey Iosefa takes a direct snap in the wildcat formation, dives into the end zone and loses control of the football.

» Impact: The play was ruled a touchdown on the field and upheld. It was the only touchdown of the game and capped a 14-play, 90-yard drive, with Iosefa carrying the ball 10 times for 22 yards.

» Iosefa: "I did whatever it took to get into the end zone, and I did it. There was a little review after that, but I knew exactly what happened. I knew they wouldn’t reverse it."

» The Play: DT Moses Samia gets pressure up the middle and blocks a 24-yard field-goal attempt by K Michael Carrizosa. LB T.J. Taimatuia recovers at the Hawaii 15.

» Impact: The second blocked field-goal try by Hawaii (Lance Williams had one earlier) made a 14-play, 74-yard San Jose State drive for naught.

» Samia: "We just executed (special teams coordinator Chris Demarest’s) plan. Me, Beau (Yap) and Kennedy (Tulimasealii) shot the A gap. Our job is to get push up the middle and throw off the kicker, get pressure."

» The Play: RB Brandon Monroe is stopped after a 3-yard run. He loses the ball as he is tackled by CB Ne’Quan Phillips, but the ruling on the field is that he was down. A replay review determines he fumbled and the ball was recovered by LB Benetton Fonua.

» Impact: One of San Jose State’s three turnovers resulted in another red zone failure.

» San Jose State coach Ron Caragher: "Turning the ball over, that’s just unacceptable and so below our standard that it’s just sickening."

» The Play: P Scott Harding booms a high 51-yard punt that PR Tim Crawley backs up for and drops. The ball is recovered by Hawaii’s Michael Martin at the San Jose State 13.

» Impact: The fifth punt this season by Harding and 10th of his career to result in Hawaii recovering a fumble set up K Tyler Hadden’s 32-yard field goal for the final score. Harding and the punt coverage team later pinned San Jose State at its 2-yard line with 1:10 left in the game.
