Maui man dies in truck crash
A Maui man was killed Thursday when he was thrown from his vehicle in a two-pickup-truck crash on Pulehu Road east of Hansen Road in Kahului, police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation showed a Toyota pickup truck traveling west on Pulehu Road crossed the solid centerline and collided with a Ford Ranger pickup going east.
The Ford truck, operated by Frederick Brittain II, 44, of Kula, rolled over, and Brittain was thrown from his vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, police said. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
A 22-year-old Waikapu man operating the Toyota was not injured.
