Quick changes for SSC staff
Members of the Stan Sheriff Center staff will have ample opportunity to work off their Thanksgiving meals this weekend.
The arena will host eight games over three days, with basketball-volleyball doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. The Rainbow Wahine basketball team is scheduled to play at 4:30 p.m. both days with the volleyball team’s matches set for 8 p.m. Due to the tight window between games, arena manager Rich Sheriff said the volleyball matches will be played on the wood court rather than the Teraflex surface, which takes about 11⁄2 hours to install.
Sheriff estimated it will take about 20 minutes to convert the court from basketball to volleyball.

Wahine push Stanford
Although Stanford swept Hawaii in an exhibition match on Monday on the Big Island, hidden within the 6-0 margin were several strong performances for the Rainbow Wahine.
UH sophomore Cindy Nguyen and freshman Viktoria Malova took their nationally ranked opponents to tiebreakers.
Nguyen lost the first set with No. 17 Carol Zhao 7-5 and won the second 7-6 in a tiebreaker. The match was decided in a 10-point tiebreaker and Nguyen fell behind twice before rallying to 9-9 and had a match point. But Zhao fought it off and won the next two points to end the match.
Malova also split two sets with No. 49 Ellen Tsay before falling 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
