A high surf advisory for the north shores of most islands has been extended through Saturday morning.

A northwest swell promises 12- to 18-foot surf along the north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau, and the north-facing shores of Oahu, Maui and Molokai, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service.

The advisory is in effect through 6 a.m. Saturday.

Beachgoers are advised to heed all advice given by ocean safety officials.
