Lihue roadwork to cause delays into January

Contractors working on the Hokulei Village shopping center expect to finish construction on the roundabout at Nuhou and Kaneka streets in Lihue by mid-January, Kauai County officials said Thursday.

In the meantime, motorists will experience intermittent delays and closures of various portions of the intersection, officials said.

The three remaining phases of the project include completion of a median on Kaneka Street and two medians on Nuhou Street leading up to the roundabout, repaving of both streets leading up to and through the roundabout, and final construction on the center portion of the roundabout.

Any questions regarding the project can be directed to Keith Perry at Goodfellow Brothers at 639-2722 or to Maryl Construction at 378-4100.
