On the Scene
Pearl Harbor survivor Ed “Submarine Kisser” Stone enjoyed the Pacific Aviation Museum’s “Destinations &?Dreams” anniversary dinner gala with Kelly Tryce, left, Cathy Foy, Janie Schaefer and Jody Bill on Saturday on Ford Island. Stone spent most of World War II as a submarine crewman, but on Dec. 7, 1941, he was a radioman aboard the ammunition ship USS Pyro. The Pyro was carrying a full load of ammunition, and a Japanese bomb missed it by a few feet. “If it had hit us — anywhere — I wouldn’t be here,” Stone said.
