See the robotics masters duke it out
Looking for some sporting excitement today? Check out the triple-header at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. In robotics, that is, which offers all the intense competition, team camaraderie and life lessons of more conventional sports.
Teams of elementary, middle and high school students will put their robots to the test and display the grace under pressure it takes to succeed in a contest that combines skill, smarts and sportsmanship. Join the fun from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free. The verve of these young STEM scholars never fails to inspire.
Don’t know if it means anything, but …
In case you hadn’t heard, today is the last day in a long time that you will see a sequential date: 12/13/14.
There doesn’t seem to be any numerological significance to the date, but lots of people are getting married on this day just in case it’s a good thing, and writers across the nation are having been a ball trying to figure out when the next similar numbers might occur.
Going by the same convention, it would be 01/02/03, in January 2103 — 89 years away. By another convention, it would be 1/2/34, on Jan. 2, 2034, and there are a few others besides.
It’s fun to contemplate, but don’t stress on it too much.
